Amber's Biography

Name: Amber Anne Anders
Birthday: October 13, 1960
House: Slytherin
Year: 4th
Kind of blood: Half-blood
Pet: A toad named Ophelia

Physical Appearance:
With the face of an angel and the spirit of a mischievous sprite, Amber Anders is a walking contradiction. To those who don’t know her well, she seems perfectly suited for Hufflepuff House. She’s generally cheerful, practically oozing charm with every smile and excited flicker of her eyes. Those who do know Amber realize that this is merely a deception – a tactic she uses to get what she wants.

Amber is tall with a small, but muscular, figure. She has long, straight brown hair that is normally worn down, so she can flip it. She is very proud of her appearance and constantly obsesses over it.

Biography:
Amber’s origins are so mysterious that she doesn’t even know about them. As far as Amber knows, she’s the only child of a Pureblooded couple, Phillip and Jasmine Anders. And, this is half true. Phillip is, indeed, her father. Her biological mother, though, is a Muggle – a woman that Phillip randomly met in a pub. Upon hearing about the pregnancy, the Anders took the woman into their home until she gave birth. Fearful of what would happen if Amber turned out to be a witch, the Anders decided to keep the child. Two months later, they kicked her mother out, with just enough money to keep her quiet.

From that moment on, Amber was Phillip and Jasmine’s daughter. There was some talk among the elite about this (Jasmine had made a point of appearing to be pregnant, but it hadn’t been as realistic as she would’ve liked), but, as was tradition, a blind eye was turned toward the scandal.

Amber was a very spoiled child. She grew up having everything she could possibly want. Her father adored her. He doted on her every chance he got. Jasmine, on the other hand, was very cold toward Amber. She never laid a hand or a harsh word on the girl, but it was still a form of abuse. She simply didn’t care about Amber.

When Amber was ten, the worst thing she could possibly imagine happened. Her father was killed. Amber was told he died heroically, saving innocent lives. In reality, he was killed in a bar brawl that got out of hand. Amber was devastated when she heard about his death. Not so much because he was gone. She loved her father, but life went on. She would fill the empty place in her heart with something else, she was sure. No, her reasons for being upset were more selfish than that. She was worried about what would happen to her, now that she only had her mother to look after her.

Amber needn’t have worried though. With her husband gone, Jasmine saw no reason to push Amber away anymore. In fact, in a complete reversal of her previous treatment of the girl, Jasmine took Amber under her wing. Amber soon found herself having all sorts of lessons on everything from hairstyles to ballroom dancing to ordering around the house-elf. Whether this was an attempt to punish her late husband for his faults or just to prepare a defenseless girl for the cruel world, is uncertain. Regardless of her motives, Jasmine slowly, but surely, helped Amber become a cold, calculating woman.

At the moment, Amber is a fourth year at Hogwarts. She is among the oldest ones in her year and has always seemed somewhat more mature than the others. At the age of fifteen, Amber is still young, still figuring out what she wants to do with her life. Her mother’s lessons have left their mark, but they haven’t shaped her yet. There are still traces of kindness in Amber, but it won’t be long before she turns into her mother.

Like her parents, Amber was sorted into Slytherin. No one in the Anders family has taken a strong position when it comes to the war though. While they do tend to look down on people, it’s because of money – not blood. They would prefer to socialize with a rich Muggle than a poor Pureblood.

Likes: Mirrors, her hair, her eyes, drama, gossip, flirting, parties, shoes, shopping, her mother

Dislikes: Poverty, boredom, hard work, animals (toads, in particular), spiders, exercise, being criticized, her mother

Extracurricular Activities: During her second year, Amber attended a few meetings of the Charms Club, but only because a boy she liked was a member. When she got over her crush, she stopped going.

Romantic history:
Amber’s a tease. She’ll flirt with any male that’s breathing, but won’t settle on any of them. You could blame it on her mother – that her influence led Amber to be terrified of falling in love. Or, you could just say that Amber’s a snob and doesn’t think anyone’s good enough for her. Either one works.

What was your character’s status before Dumbledore’s spell?
A month after graduating from Hogwarts, Amber married a significantly older family friend. It was an arranged marriage, but she didn’t mind. She knew his money would be with her much longer than he would. Sure enough, he died of natural causes six months later. With her inheritance in tow, Amber went on a “vacation” around the world, to find herself. Ten years later, she returned to England, where she stayed until the war started heating up again. Never a fighter (or an activist), Amber took off again. Having spent the majority of her money, Amber was left with few options. So, she decided to settle down and find a job that would support her lifestyle. Unfortunately, with her limited experience, there weren’t many occupations she could fill. And, none of them paid enough for her liking. So, Amber did the only thing she could. She found another husband. At the time of Dumbledore’s spell, she was living in the Caribbean with her wealthy spouse. At the exact moment it happened, she was probably lounging on the beach, getting a massage.

Current Students: What does your character want to accomplish this year?
Amber doesn’t have any short-term goals. She doesn’t particularly care about her marks as long as she passes everything. She couldn’t care less about Quidditch or the war. Really, she just wants to find the perfect shoes.
